Hugh C. Becker 2025 Grants
Application Period: November 1, 2024 to January 31, 2025
Application Submission Instructions
The application must be submitted via email to the Hugh C. Becker Grant Committee of the Twin Cities Chapter of Muskies, Inc. at: [email protected]. Use Hugh C. Becker Grant Application as the subject of your email and attach the application. Attachments must be a Word document or pdf (preferred) document. Other formats cannot be accepted. The complete application must be submitted on or before 11:59 pm (CST), January 31, 2025. Any submission received after the aforementioned date will not be considered for award by the committee.
Application Requirements
Application requests must include all the following criteria:
- Name and address of the group, and a history of the group’s accomplished projects to date, if applicable. Please be sure to include the group’s IRS Employee Identification Number (EIN).
- Demonstrate need – how will this project benefit the muskellunge program(s) in area, region, or range (Canada included)
- What is the scope and purpose of project?
- Where is this project to take place?
- What is the duration of this project? Include start and finish dates.
- What are the cost breakdowns of the project? Itemize equipment, labor, overhead costs and provide quotes where applicable.
- Who will be involved in operating the project? Include the project team, project manager/coordinator, and applicable means of contact (email and phone numbers)
- Submit anticipated “milestones” dates for progress and accountability reports.
- Can the requesting group match funds from within or any outside source? Please list all.
Other Considerations
- Cap on any individual grant/fund will be $10,000; incrementally within year or over the course of years, unless the Hugh C. Becker Grant Committee decides otherwise on any specific proposal.
- Successful recipients of awards must give the Hugh C. Becker Trust Foundation appropriate credit and acknowledge the financial contribution for any project, product or any publicity relating to the project.
- The Hugh C. Becker Trust Foundation reserves the right to edit all publications regarding the project.
- If the project fails to reach its purpose through false reporting, deceit, and/or other unprofessional acts, the requesting group may be responsible for restitution (committee determination).
- No indirect costs (overhead) will be awarded on research proposals.
Addendum
Like projects/activities that may qualify per the wishes and conditions of Hugh C. Becker include, but are not limited to:
- Muskie propagation by the Twin Cities Chapter of Muskies, Inc., in their own ponds (?) with their own equipment.
- Stocking, by either raising muskie fingerlings or purchasing fingerlings/yearlings/adults for public use in designated waters.
- Habitat protection and improvement.
- Clean water (quality) protection and improvement.
- Professional research by qualified personnel (not limited to Minnesota, but must include accountable data).
- Expansion of the present muskellunge range (special consideration for the Missouri river system in North/South Dakota).
The Hugh C. Becker Grant Committee of the Twin Cities Chapter of Muskies, Inc. will consider projects based on their respective merits per criteria above, and awards will be published in the Muskie magazine of Muskies, Inc. The principles of Muskies, Inc. – Fisheries, Research, and Youth – are guidelines inclusive in qualifying and evaluating proposals.
NOTE: Accountability reports (documentation of grant usage), including DNR letters, research papers, publications, university acknowledgements, and any other follow-up information for awards given in a particular year, will be required before any individual or group is given consideration for future grants.
