7:00 am - 5:30 pm
ONE-HUNDRED PERCENT OF THE PROCEEDS FROM THIS TOURNAMENT WILL GO BACK TO THE METRO AREA MUSKIE FISHERY.
Participating in the George Wahl tournament is a good way to ensure that the quality of our local fishery will continue for years to come.
Anglers can fish their choice of lakes. An awards program with feed at Thorne Bros will follow a day of fishing. The grand prize, a week-long stay at Whitefish Bay Camp on Lake of the Woods and $500, is given by draw of all anglers who register a fish in the tournament. Prizes are given to the top ten anglers and top three juniors.
New this year is a requirement that you take TWO photos of the fish you register, one of you holding the fish and one of the fish on a commercially-manufactured bump board. If you do not have a bump board in your boat, you can order one when you register for the tournament on-line.
You can register on-line through Monday, September 18. You may register in person through closing time Friday, September 22 at Thorne Bros. in Blaine, Joe's Sporting Goods in St. Paul and Blue Ribbon Bait & Tackle in Oakdale. Entry fee is $50 per person or $100 for a family package of two adults and two juniors or one adult and three juniors.
George Wahl was the inventor and manufacturer of the Eagle Tail lure who passed away in 2008. The tournament was conceived as a way to honor George’s love of muskies and muskie fishing, his contribution to the muskie fishing industry, his generosity sharing information with others, and his encouragement to muskie anglers.
